I am interested in starting a classic rock band that has a look and a vision, almost like a tribute band. I would love for the band to have an early 70's English slant. Think Thin Lizzy, Bad Company, Bad Finger, Bowie but maybe Big Star, Mountain, from this side. I just do not want to do the same on 15 songs that everybody is doing around here. No Blue, unless it's Zepp or Trower, No SRV white boy stuff.
I’m thinking “cash cow”! All covers, covers only, you can’t write “new” classic rock after all. I want to do almost all stuff from 1970 to about '76 or '78. Other stuff if it fits. I would like to be like a classic rock jukebox, doing material from many classic artists, but want to go a little deeper then the most obvious songs. I want this to be a strong product that will work well in a club or other places.
Mostly, after being in lots of different types of bands, I want to go back and play what turned me on to guitar in the first place.
I am just putting out the feelers for this and other projects. I am open minded about this so if you have a good plan, I’m all ears!
I am a super positive, upbeat, non-smoking, “good” beer drinking, ex-pro lead guitar player with pro gear. I don’t have illusions of being a rock star but am willing to take it somewhat seriously if it’s worth it. I love to practice but only if it leads to gigs. I also know how to be “not to loud”! I have a life, but still want to play music. Mostly, I want to have fun.
Seeking like-minded, super positive, upbeat, middle-aged players who have a little life left in ‘em! Professionalism is a greater priority then virtuosity to me. I think knowing lots of songs is better then having monster chops. An ability to communicate to the audience and sell a product is important. Most importantly, must be able to see the vision and catch the vibe and look!
Classic rock, duh!
Send a set list if you can.
Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Hendrix, Cream, Zepplin, Who, Badfinger, Trower, Thin Lizzy, Bowie, Free, More English then American.
