ABOUT

With the recent release of his debut solo album, “A Lesson In What Not To Do” (Oct. 2009), singer/songwriter Mike Mercier looks to expand his audience, tour schedule, and career.

Much of the lyrical content on the record is inspired by the frantic times in his life and the will to get through them. Whether referring to a romantic relationship, struggle with addiction and motivation, debaucherous exploration, or the loss of a friend, Mike seems to have learned his life lessons the old-fashioned way, by experiencing them first hand.

Primarily a solo/acoustic artist, this record also highlights Mike’s edgier ‘rock’ side while maintaing a focus on songwriting, melody, and lyrics. Citing such influences as Jane’s Addiction, Rush, Tool, and Alice In Chains as well as Billy Joel, Melissa Etheridge, and Conor Oberst, the music captured on this album is lent a certain multi-dimensional quality reminding the listener of push/pull, yin/yang-like tendencies.

This musical duality may be a reflection of his life. Born and raised in the often cold and damp climate of northern NH, Mike is now based in the desert metropolitan area of Phoenix, AZ. His lifestyle is that of “work hard/party hard” as he plays hundreds of shows each year in bars and clubs locally and across the country. Mike has shared the stage with such national acts as Trapt, Shinedown, Pete Yorn, and Vanessa Carlton
