Looking for musically talented, passionate, and dedicated individuals who are proficient on more than one instrument and can sing harmonies for a band full of people who can do the same. We've only been practicing for a little over a month and played one gig but everyone in the band is a very fast learner. We have gigs at the International Pop Overthrow Festival in San Francisco and the Off the Grid Music Festival in Eugene, OR in August so it's very important that we have a strong lineup together by then. The initial vision is for this band to be a six piece which brings us to you. We are looking for people within our age range so roughly between 18 and 25 or so. Two slots are open:

1. Drummer- The biggest problem I've had with most of the drummers we've tried so far is that they're too busy and too concerned with amplifying their own ability rather than locking in with what works with the song. They can do fills all day but can't keep a steady beat. Even worse, they don't want to. If the idea of jamming by simply keeping a tight two-four kick and snare beat bores you, then this probably isn't the band for you. If you, however, see the drummer as the motor of the band and not the chrome finish, then we should talk. Our favorite drummers include Ringo Starr, Jim Keltner, Hal Blaine, Pete Thomas, Ralph Molina, Charlie Watts, Maureen Tucker, Alan White, Aaron Smith, Al Jackson Jr, Abe Laboriel Jr, Rikki Fataar, Mick Fleetwood, Kenny Buttrey, Mike Urbano, etc... We're looking for anyone who can truly be the backbone of this group and give it a steady heartbeat without giving it a heart attack.

2. Multi-instrumentalist/vocalist-
You should at least be proficient on both guitar and keyboards. Even better if you can play some sort of classical instrument i.e. a string instrument like viola or cello, a brass instrument like trumpet or french horn or something along those lines. It'd be great also if you were comfortable on bass and lead guitar. The crown jewel of this band is going to be the harmonies. Finding that perfect blend is essential... For male vocalist examples think Carl Wilson, David Crosby, Elliott Smith, or Rufus Wainwright. For female vocalist examples think Stacy and Sherri DuPree (Eisley), Feist, or Fiona Apple.

Aside from what we're looking for musically (because obviously in a successful band, that's only half of it) we just want people who love music so much that they do want to make a life and a living out of it and have the responsibility and dedication to back up that desire. Please be able to practice at least twice a week and gig as often as necessary. Also, no abusers of chemical substances, please. Be willing to put time and effort into promoting the band and helping to secure gigs and useful connections and opportunities.
