I've been singing strictly as an amateur for about fifteen years, but without a band and with no particular style other than leaning towards rock. I have recently found that singing alternative music is in my blood, I'm addicted to it. I have recently come to a position where I have the opportunity and ability to form/join a serious band, preferably in the alternative/rock genre. I have taken some voice lessons but am willing to engage a voice coach to assist me with breath support, even though I already have a good strong voice, good pitch control and I know how to project. I have a range of about two and a half octaves, three on a good day.
It would take me all day to list influences, but I will shoot a few at you to illustrate the breadth of my musical appreciation. Beatles, Animals, Genesis (early), Styx (early), REO Speedwagon, Asia, Elton John (early), Rod Stewart, Survivor, Foreigner, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Celtic music, Three Doors Down, Santana, Toad the Wet Sproket, REM, Bare Naked Ladies, Nirvana, Whitesnake, Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hootie and the Blow Fish, The Ramones, Good Charlotte, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, Black Cherry, Green Day, Pink, Chris Daughtry, Katie Perry, Nickelback, Linkin Park, and many, many more.
I have a CAD C-195 Electret Cardioid Condenser Mic with Boom,
a Pair of Peavey PR15-NEO 2-way speakers w/stands,
a Yamaha EMX512SC 500-watt 12 channel (4 mono and 8 stereo) mixer/amp,and
available practice space for a 3-5 member band with equipment.
