I have and can play a variety of styles. I've done anything from backup band for a piano driven female singer/songwriter to playing in a metal band and everything in between. Right now I'm looking to play drums in an indierock band with some people who want to play high quality well-written music.
I have a variety of influences. Focusing just on who I get my drumming style, it would be from the following: Carter Beauford of Dave Matthews Band (hands down one of the best drummers making music right now), Travis Barker of Blink 182 (not because of the style of music, but his style of playing - mine is similar), Steve Kleisath of Further Seems Forever (a very strong personal influence - love his drumming)...those are probably the MOST POPULAR three that people will recognize, however it in no way completely encapsulates my style of play. Also, take into consideration these bands that I like and listen to:
Further Seems Forever
The Fire Theft
Sunny Day Real Estate
Elliott
Blacktop Cadence
Hot Water Music
Shai Hulud
Story of the Year
Green Day
Blink 182
I tried to give a very broad idea of what I want to play. If any of these strike a chord, ESPECIALLY the underground bands, contact me.
My drumset is a pretty traditional jazz setup. I have a 5 piece sonor set that I just play as a 4 piece. I have Zildjan Mastersound Hihats and the rest of my symbols are Paiste Signature Series which includes a ride, two crashes, and two splashes.
