SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY: I'm looking to make bass guitar playing my day job.
OTHER CONTACT INFO: al_gue_bass@yahoo.com
MUSIC SKILLS: Besides the electric bass guitar, I’ve learned to play other instruments including the nylon stringed acoustic guitar. But I have decided that the electric bass guitar be my instrument of choice to do gigs. I can read sheet music for bass clef if required and transpose in real time from treble clef to bass clef if needed. You can click on to the equipment tab to find out what bass instruments I use.
AUDIO SAMPLES OF MY WORK: You can listen to some samples of me playing along with cover tunes. I am on the right speaker while the band music is on the left speaker. The bass line on Moon Dream is an original line I created because the original recording does not have a bass part. You can work your balance control on your computer to mix my bass line to the rest of the music. This control feature will allow you to compare my recorded bass line to the original bass player's line of each song sample.
AVAILABILITY: I am available for touring live anywhere in the world and anytime. I am available to do studio gigs. I have some experience doing recordings at the pre-production demo environment. Eventually, I would like to get more studio gigs on a regular basis at any music production environment.
James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius, Larry Graham, Victor Wooten, Mike "Flea" Balzary, Stanley Clarke, Andy Gonzalez, Bobby Valentín have provided examples of what can be done on an electric bass guitar.
James Jamerson and Jaco Pastorius however, mainly provide me the most insight on how to just go with the flow of any kind of music where I would have to invent a bass line. This general approach allows me to maintain my “voice” without sacrificing groove in any genre I play.
There are a lot of bands and artists I listen to and I don’t have a favorite. I also listen to local bands/artists such as 45 High (at www.myspace.com, EPs: On TV and My Addiction), Julia Brown (Jubilant Newborn Alien Haze on www.cdbaby.com).
TRANSPORTATION: I rely on public transportation or a rented motorvehicle
INSTRUMENTS: 4 string Standard J-Bass, 4 string Fretless J-Bass.
AMPLIFICATION: Nemesis 650: 250 Watt Amp Head, Schroeder Cab: 8ohm, 12 inch speaker (with variable tweeter) cabinet.
EQUIPMENT OPTIONS: with two 8 ohm cabs, I get 440 Watts out. DI connector available to go through a PA or sound board, Nemesis can be a preamp and connect to a power amp.
STANDARD AUDIO EFFECTS: compressor, parametric EQ and tone enhancer built in to the Nemesis 650 amp head.
