REVIEW:
Kaleo's music reaches into the soul and allows one to experience the traditional music of the islands through the expertise of his style in traditional, and kiho'alu (slack key) guitar. His unique vocal style is brought to the forefront the difficult style of ha'i (falsetto) singing showcased in his album "Kaua'i Beauty".

The music heard on this album is a special collection of traditional Hawaiian music from 1850 to 1950. It will surprise and delight you with the different textures, harmony, and depth of character. The songs tell stories of Hawaiian legends and the natural beauty of the islands generating a positive, magical feeling in one's heart and mind, as they define the spirit of Hawaiian culture and the physical majesty the islands of Aloha.

Hawaiian music allows you to dream everything that can be dreamed...it appeals to every age group by its very nature. Kaleo's dream is to foster the resurgence of interest in Hawaiian culture by sharing the beauty of the islands with his music.

BIO:
Kaleo is Kama'aina (island born) 1973 and raised on Kaua'i. Kaleo's great-grandfather's great-grandfather was Kaumuali'i, Kauai's last King and he is a decedent of George Na'ea, father of Hawaii's Queen Emma!

Kaleo learned about island history and the ways and spirit of aloha from his tutu (grandmother in Hawaiian), Kamanao Na'ea who was a guitarist, singer and narrator at the Kodak Hula Show in Waikiki for two decades, she taught Kaleo to play and sing Hawaiian music from the day he was born until he moved to Santa Barbara in 1987 where he studied with many guitar masters over the next 20 years.

Kaleo began performing in 1997, delighting listeners with beautiful island music.
