First and foremost, I'm a Mezzo Alto with clear lows and ability to belt fairly high notes.
I have been playing music off and on my whole life, starting with the Baritone Horn. At age 9, I switched to the Trombone and played both Classical and Jazz music until I was about 18 or so when I began teaching myself to play acoustic guitar. I can sing and play, but to be completely honest, I prefer to sing with someone else accompanying me. I am very teachable though. I do read music and tabs.
I have also dabbled with piano and trumpet, but have no skill to speak of...just enough to look at music and understand - perhaps play a few lines if it's simple enough.
Over the years I have discovered that I am much better with my voice than I am with any other instrument. I sing with power, and I love to perform. I am, however, a late bloomer as far as playing in rock bands as I became a mother at an age where most young musicians really become active in a more adult scene.
The ideal group for me will have all pieces, including keys, be willing to play music that suits my voice, and also have a strong male vocalist to take the lead on some guy songs, duets, backups, ect. I do want to play out as often as possible, and I feel that practicing as a group is extremely important until we get to the point that we are ready for that.
