I'm looking for musicans (or a band) who are interested in writing, recording and performing original material.

Influences:

I've always been interested in the arts and music. When I was really young, it was the Partridge Family, Elton John and Paul McCartney's band Wings. But I was also into watching horror flicks and started to take notice of acts like Alice Cooper and KISS.

My first instrument was an el-cheapo guitar. I took lessons with my Dad but quickly became disinterested in this structured approach to music. I immediately took an interest in and started playing bass after seeing Gene Simmons of KISS. His bass had this dark, intense, overwhelming command over the music that I had never heard before. It just sucked me in. It wasn't long after that that a friend of mine introduced me to Black Sabbath and I was immediately drawn to the dark and bluesy bass work of Geezer Butler.

Over the years I relied on my ears and learned to play the music I enjoyed listening to. I never went back to take lessons. Instead, I went on to admire and emulate Gene Simmons (KISS), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Geddy Lee (RUSH), John Entwistle (The Who) and Lemmy Kilmeister (Motorhead) as a teen until devolping my own style of playing. Today, I still play by ear and have developed a unique approach to the bass that I can best describe as a cross between that of a guitarist and bassist. I use various techniques to get whatever sound/feel I'm looking to produce. I like the bass to be a prominent part of the music so I incorporate both bass and treble, along with a little grit, to give my bass the edge to punch through where needed. I also use a wah-wah occassionally.

As for bands, I love the challenging, bluesy and melodic lines of bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rush, Tool, etc. But I'm also into the fast paced, instense, heavy, bass driven, distorted metal music of today. Lately, I've been listening to material by Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Lacuna Coil, Megadeth, Sevendust and Slipknot, just to name a few.
