Stephen Schornstein started playing the Double Bass when he was in the fourth grade while living in Massapequa, NY. He learned how to play the Bass Guitar while attending Sebastian River High School. Stephen played mostly classical music in his elementary and middle school career. Not until his Ninth grade did he discover jazz. In 2003 he had to move out of NY and moved to FL. The new school he arrived at did not have an Orchestra program, but they did have a new Jazz Ensemble. Under the direction of Mr. John Hinkle the Sebastian River High School Jazz Ensemble became one of the best High School Jazz Ensembles on the Treasure Coast. Mr. Schornstein's musical career got started while in High School, while there he got experience in performing out side of school functions. At that point he realized that he can really make money doing something he loved. He continued his High School career where Mr. Hinkle convinced him that being a musician is not one of he best careers a young man can have. So Stephen decided to for a career in the medical field. He finally decided to become a doctor and started the premed program at Indian River Community College. He started his classes at IRCC in the fall of 2006, while there he joined the IRCC Wind Ensemble, IRCC Jazz Band, and the IRCC Theater Orchestra. Getting exposed to classical style music again Stephen fell in love with music completely and in a drastic move changed his major from premed to music education. Along with the groups at IRCC he is also in many other Orchestras throughout the community. Stephen was a member of the Treasure Coast Symphony Orchestra, The Indian River Pops! Orchestra, as well as a Chamber Orchestra. In the summer of 2007 Stephen Schornstein moved to Ormond Beach Florida, where he currently resides, and started to attend Daytona State College. Where he was a member of the Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and the Theater Orchestra. Stephen Schornstein recently moved to San Angelo Tx and is looking for some gigs.

Influences
Stephen Schornstein is influneced by Ray Brown as a solo Bassist in a Jazz setting. Classically he listens to as much as he can to understand the different styles of music.
