About
Versatile Bass Player looking for established R&B, Funk, Disco, Lounge/Event band. Mature, responsible; can sight read written charts. Variety of instruments and equipment for different sounds and venues.
I've given up on "Classic Rock," not because I don't like the music; but rather because that market space is too crowded. I'm looking for a band that knows what audiences and venues they want to appeal to, and is working towards putting together a show that plays to that - rather than a collection of folks that like certain tunes and are going to play them whether anyone's interested or not.
Influences
Tower of Power, Blues Brothers, Mowtown, James Brown's rythym section, etc. That's Rocco Prestia, "Duck Dunn," Bob Babbit, Larry Grahm, Bootsie Collins, etc.
I've watched Rocco Prestia play in person, close up, and he reminded me of the definition of "Professional," which is someone that makes the difficult look effortless. Bass is more than the linkage between the drums and the melody, and there's different ways to make that link work.
Equipment List
EBMM Bongo 5, EBMM Stering 4, Bongo 4, Carvin SB4001, Mesa Boogie V-12 w/Accugruuve Bill Dickens and Tri 1-15 cabs, Mesa 4x10 cab, various vocal mikes, stands, monitors. Gear isn't an issue.
