I have been playing since I was 12 yrs old. I learned by playing for the jazz band at jr. high and high school. They provided free private lessons and sent me to jazz camps and stuff.
I also had my rock influences so natrually I was in a few garage bands during those years as most of us have been.
I started out as a bass player and never switched........I am not a guitar player that couldn't hang with the rest and switched to bass.
A "good" bass player can make a real difference in any band.
Sure, any ole guitar player can pick up a bass and get the job done but a genuine bass player has feel, style, groove, and such.........thats something a guitar player can't produce over night. Also, a bass player knows his position in the song, when to lay back and when to fill it up.I already have it.
I am now 37. so, I've been playing quite a while.
I am looking for a working band.......not a band that might take a gig here and there......I am not obove playing any kind of cover as long as the money is there.
I figure, if I need to make ends meet, why not make money doing what I love to do rather than mowing lawns or shoveling snow.
