I started playing when I was 13. I'm self taught which is both good and bad. I'm strong with many techniques like tapping and alternate picking, but I couldn't teach myself music theory. That area I would have really needed a teacher. All in all after 7 years I consider myself good and my friends say I'm a "shred god", so I must be doing something right.
