About
I am new to this town (Fresno) and seeking some cool, laid- back people to jam with, then to (hopefully) move towards something more serious. I play a very minimal drumkit (snare, bass drum, and 2 floor toms, with just a single ride/crash cymbal & a hi-hat) but I've been playing for over 20 years now, with some of the best musicians in my hometown of Ventura, Ca. I play everything from mellow R&B to slap-bass Funk to 100mph punk rock to kickback (or kick-ASS) old-school reggae, and any cool-sounding combinations of these styles. I would love to hear from anyone interested in forming an informal jam session, or a 5 star super-hyped recording session!! Other words: I'm just dying to play, and I don't know a soul in this town yet--- so don't hesitate to contact me at beaz216@., or by phone at 559-227-7140, & just ask for "Brent." Thanx! --b. PS: I have my own drum gear, a sweet acoustic/electric bass guitar, *AND* a car w/ racks on it, to boot. Not to mention 20+ years of experience w/ DIY garage bands, musicians' egos, and all the other craziness that goes along w/ the life... I can bear it all as long as we can PLAY! So *please* gimme a call!!!
Influences
The Clash, Bob Marley, the Sex Pistols, the entire 1960s Trojan Records catalog from Jamaica, Stiff Little Fingers, B. Marley, Toots & the Maytals, Led Zep, David Bowie, Iggy & Stooges, The MC5, Minor Threat, Fugazi, more Marley, Black Flag, Black Uhuru, the Crass, & far too many more to list. Aside from Mr.Johnny Cash's songs, I can truthfully say that C&W is the only musical genre that I truly despise and will turn off in a radio setting... If i don't toss the whole radio out the window first!!! I was raised on Zeppelin and then later on the speed and anger of the original punk rock DIY scene, and played in a bunch of relatively successful local bands (in Ventura,CA) all through high-school and my early 20's... And yes--I'm still playing today! i just need some people to jam with!!!
Equipment List
Vintage Sonor 14" steel snare, vintage 22" Ludwig maple kickdrum, (2) maple floor toms, a killer vintage 14" Old-school set of Paiste Sound-Edge '1000' hi-hats, & a super-cool 20" Zildjian Z Custom ride/crash. Plus, all the necessary hardware and the inner soul & commitment to kick anyone's ass on the drums!! Ultra-Punk-Rock!!!
