About
Bennett Harris is an expert traditional acoustic blues guitarist, fingerpicking Piedmont and Mississippi Delta slide styles while singing and blowing a mean harp. He works solo and expands into duo with bass, trio with drums or fiddle, and even fronts a full-out electric blues quartet. Songs run the gamut, from Robt.Johnson and Bessie Smith, originals, to the royal Kings and beyond.
Influences
Bennett studied with Gary Davis protege Ian Buchanan (who also taught fingerpicking to Jorma Kaukonen.) Further influenced by John Hammond, the Grateful Dead, Mike Bloomfield, and all the notable guitarists he can soak up.
Equipment List
Bennett's performances always include a hefty dose of slide work on a vintage National steel guitar. Harmonicas include Hohner Meisterclasse, Special 20, Marine Band & CrossHarp. He uses a stock 23-inch wooden 4 legged stool with strong foot rungs, and loads all his gear into the big-ass trunk of a '93 vintage Mercury V-8
