About

I'm BennyB, and looking for some folks in Hot springs/Glenwood area to do some Gospel/Christian music. Not looking to join a Church Band or Praise Team, as I'm locked in where I go, and God hasn't told me I'm done there. If anybody's interested, I'd really love to do something that can reach young folks as well as adults, maybe a Youth Ministry. It'd have to be as a Ministry, not just playing for fun/profit. I'm also be up to doing a show, freebie or cheap, for a good cause in the Hot Springs/Glenwood area. Have to be close to me for that. I can pretty well fit into most things except metal/really hard rock. I don't play well with drunks. If you drink some, fine, but not drunk. Been there, done that, and it's nowhere.
I've played a lot of older rock, country, blues-electric and delta, swing/big band, and Gospel, Traditional and Contemporary.
I opened my own Family variety show, Rocky Top Jubilee, in 1989, and went four years, till my wife's health had to become my priority, closed it. My band and I did shows for a few years, just for private groups and corporate type things.
Played with house band at The Bathhouse Show twelve years. Cut my left hand on a table saw, and took a little time off, but went back with a vengence. My friends say I now have to play real bass instead of lead bass. Did keyboard bass while recuperating.Played with 'Center Stage Country' about a year, but had too much going on. I'd like to play/jam with some folks who can play without having to be drunk.
I love Gospel music, and play on my Church Praise Team. I've played from dives and lounge acts to theaters, stadiums and arenas. Did comedy for several years in family music shows as hillbilly "Cuz'n Jabbo". I've done more shows than dance through the years. Played with SingOut Malvern in High School, a local offshoot of Up With People! About 125 people in the chorus, up to 17 piece band, did a Vegas lounge act awhile, had my own show and worked with others. Sober people are more fun-they know if you mess up!
Very flexible, but can't go on the road. 1-2 nights a week is cool with the right folks, having FUN at it. Never have understood musicians who have to frown or act mad.
Looking for a steady to semi-steady gig or sit ins(need a song list w/ keys). Really do want to do a Ministry of some kind, if possible.

Influences

My early bass influnces were John Entwhistle, Jack Bruce, and Paul McCartney. Jim Fielder of early B,S & T was a tripping player. Duck Dunn, Jack Casady, John Paul Jones, Joe Osborn and Carol Kay. Love Stanley Clark. Flea and Victor Wooten are awesome, but not my flavor. I love Garth Brooks and Shania Twains bands- They're INTERTAINERS!
