ABOUT THE BIG UNKLE
The Big Unkle is an original instrumental funk/jazz fusion project that is the soundscape for the alter ego of The Other Element (T.O.E.) bassist, in collaboration with versatile keyboardist/arranger, John Gambini.
Flanked by percussionist, Dave Namerow and drummer, Quirky Tom, The Big Unkle delivers cutting-edge rhythms and grooves that send messages that have never been heard before and will not be soon forgotten.
Influenced by virtuoso bassists such as Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten and Jaco Pastorius, The Big Unkle reinforces the fact that the bass guitar can come from the background and take the lead and take the listener on a wild ride that is driven by compelling melody, exotic harmonies, soul and unrelenting rhythm. Experience the Power and Grace of the Unkle's Bass!
The Big Unkle is a unique collection of diverse material that draws upon elements of funk, progressive jazz, world beat grooves, and rock & roll and then blends them into a cultural mix of mysterious compositions that gently disturb the peace and reinforce the power of soul.

FEATURED DEMOS
Click onto the player at the upper right to hear pre and post production demos.
TRACK1. The Corner Pocket---Well, apparently not such a "smooth jazz" song afterall, according to WJJZ. What do they know, anyway? And also not at all inspired by a dark night in San Diego and a very fast car.
TRACK2. The Big Unkle---Little dude used to actually call me---Uncle Big Uncle. Funny thing is...he wasn't so little---and I wasn't so big!!
TRACK3. Mirror Dance---(demo) We can't let this secret out of the bag just yet...but just keep in mind that from all accounts, she knew that everyone was watching.
TRACK4. Peanut Butter Monkey--soundtrack: "Rhesus Monkeys Say, Release-Us Monkeys." Dedicated to all monkeys condemned to the horrible fate of scientific research.
TRACK5. Booth In The Back---dedicated to "Big John" from Anderson, SC. The Big Unkle takes on the big band and swings for all those old cats who still pay the bills, dress to kill, and are strong at will! Yeah, those dudes groove like nobody's business!
TRACK6. Mirajadon---aka Mirror of John. The classic and classical battle between good and evil, soft and hard, high and low, up and down, back and forth---and bass and treble---all after equal ground and balance!
