I began playing bass and singing at age 9 with my father's gospel group, Smitty and The Sons of Truth. I sing both lead and back-up/harmony vocals. I played with the late Jimmy Landers of The Jimmy Landers Blues Company for 4 years, playing regular gigs in Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Bay Village and other Ohio cities. I have performed with many other acts, including The O'Jays, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Wayne Bell & New Experience, The Jim Orlando Trio, Rare Soul, Ruby Carter, Jimmy St. Clair, Larry Hancock (of S.O.U.L. fame) and a many others. I consider myself a 'Funk Master', but play all musical styles and genres. My unique 6-string bass playing and vocal style combine the spirit of Gospel, the texture of Soul, the excitement of Funk and the rhythm of Reggae! I'm equally at home with a 4 or 5 string instrument as well as double-neck instruments. The picture in m y profile is from a gig at the Loose Moose in Cuyahoga Falls just a few months ago. I look (feel and act!) a lot younger than I am!
