NOTE:
Why do some of you even bother to take the time to build a nice profile on BandMix, but then you DON'T bother to **list an email** in your profile (or a phone number) so that other musicians can contact you if they are interested? Some of us are not premium members...
If this is YOU, then pleeeease update your profile so I (and countless others) can contact you! I have seen dozens of musicians who interest me here, but I have no way of contacting any of them. My contact info is there. Why isn't yours?
Thanks.
Ok... My rant is done... Now to get down to business...
I play 11 instruments, but concentrate on my guitars, piano and organ, and bass. I own all my needed amplification equipment, including my own 300 watt PA (I mainly use it as my recording studio monitor system), mics, and a few amps for my guitars, bass, and keyboard.
I formed a band in California from scratch called "Harvest", and we stayed intact for about 4 years and worked gigs and clubs nearly every weekend. By the time we decided to split up and raise our respective families, 2/3 of our huge music library was original music, of which, about 75% was written by me. So far, I have composed over 150 songs, copyrighted many of those, and am currently recording and scoring the rest of them to submit for copyrighting. (It is rather time-consuming...)
I used my home recording studio and equipment to record my first 2 CDs. The 2nd one is nearly done. I play all of the instruments (live, one track at a time), and perform all of the vocals and harmonies (live, one track at a time). No pitch correctors for me. I do it until it is right. Recording each and every track is very time-consuming, but a very rewarding task once I hear the finished product.
I am looking to either join a nearly-completed band looking for the missing component, or to form a new band for gigs, playing some live cover/tribute tunes, live original stuff, along with recording more of my songs, other band member's individual songs, or songs that are composed collectively by the entire band.
Here is the lowdown on the 4 copyrighted songs that I decided to upload here:
- You're an Angel -
I secretly wrote and recorded this prior to my wedding for my 2nd wife (my first wife of 31 years passed away suddenly). The very first time my new bride heard it was when I sang it to her while we were standing at the altar about ready to exchange our wedding vows.
- I Need You -
This was my late wife's favorite song. We were married for 31 years before she passed away suddenly. To me, saying "I Need You" has a stronger meaning than saying "I Love You. The entire guitar tracks consist of dual and triple harmony parts from the start to the end. (In other words, I wasn't just "strumming" chords). My late 21 year-old daughter did the beautiful background vocals, and unfortunately, this song is the only song that I managed to record with my daughter before she died suddenly on Christmas Eve of '04.
- Your Name Should Have Been Angel -
This is a country-style 3/4 waltz that was also written for my late wife because she loved to collect pictures and any sort of knick-knacks with angels on them. One day, I joked that her "name should have been Angel". Then, the light turned on over my head, the lyrics were done by dinner time, and the music was composed the next day.
- Hey! What's That You Say? -
This was, by far, Harvest's most popular *original* song about a love gone bad. Short and sweet. We would lengthen the lead if the crowd was really getting into it. (Our most popular *cover* song was Skynyrd's "Free Bird".)
