About
ABOUT ME: I now live in Hemet, and I play in a band called the 7th Sons. I'm a self-taught drummer, playing since '69. I can play rock, metal, funk, blues, R&B & and country, but enjoy playing rock and rockin' blues the most... also like metal or hard rock styles, but can play a wide variety of material. Reach me on Yahoo Messenger as "billsintruder" or e mail me at bikeridinbill@Gmail(dot)com.
Currently, the 7th Sons is seeking a solid & creative bass player to fill a gap in our ranks. A good singing voice would be great too, but not required. We are going lean with two guitarists, a lead vocalist (think Paul Rodgers-like), a bassist (you) and myself... for doing a variety of gigs. We're not into the every weekend thing... we like to leave some private time for self & family, but gigging a couple of weekends a month, or less at times, is pretty much where we're at. Not so much for money, but for the love of playing, creating, and enjoying music... is our mindset. Making a little side cash wouldn't hurt though. We all get along well, and enjoy each other's company. We have rehearsed in Chino Hills in the past (one of the guitarists & I lived in Corona singer in Anaheim Hills, and other guitarist in West Covina), but we can perhaps move it to Riverside, or somewhere more central for everyone, or I can carpool with someone if they think it's worth it. Give me a call, or shoot me an email if you're interested. I would like to hear some samples of your playing too, to see if we might be a good fit (you know how it is... a bass player and drummer have to be a good fit, or it doesn't work very well. You can find samples of us here, or quite a few on You Tube, from our many gigs at The Coach House, etc.
Influences
Simon Kirke (Bad Company), Frank Beard (ZZ Top), Ringo Starr (The Beatles), Charlie Watts (The Rolling Stones), Ian Paice (Deep Purple), and more. In addition to drummers from the British Invasion bands, I have an appreciation for straight ahead rock & some metal rock (Ozzie, AC/DC, Deep Purple, and lots more.), I was also influenced by many of the Motown session drummers, and many of the sounds of the late 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's, as well as some of the funkier stuff put out by Sly Stone and scores of other bands. I played for many years in various cover bands doing a wide variety of material from the 50's thru the 90's. I have also played in country bands, and have worked on several original music projects. Thus, I have a pretty wide range of influences & experiences.
Equipment List
I typically play a single bass, double tom, double floor tom Yamaha set up, with cases, a Frankenstein collection of DW, Pearl and Tama stands, Zildjian and Paiste cymbals, mics for all, a 16 channel & 8 channel mixer, a 150 watt Roland keyboard amp, a Roland effects unit, Shure vocal mics and booms, two Zoom digital recorders (H4 & an R24), a Carvin 1200 watt P.A. system with four 300 watt, 12-inch w/horn monitors, a separate 1000 watt amp, a power conditioner, and lots of video gear, not to mention a truck to carry them in. I also have a home mixing setup with Sonar X1 Producer, and video editing software (i.e. Sony Vegas Platinum & Pro).
The line below is actually pretty funny (i.e. "How many gigs have you played?" It says "Over 100" as a top end. I would say hundreds might be more accurate. :)
