World T.E.A.M. Face of America 2019
Cycling with Adaptive Military Veterans to Gettysburg
May 3-5, 2019
Our 2019 Face of America honors and assists our military – adaptive, veterans and active duty – and the true American Spirit. Face of America is World T.E.A.M.’s classic Mid-Atlantic two-day bicycle and hand cycling challenge for adaptive and able-bodied athletes, ending in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Riders travel 112 miles on a route beginning in Arlington, Virginia and overnighting in Frederick, Maryland.
This inspiring program welcomes adaptive and able-bodied servicemen and women as teammates in a challenging multi-day ride. Through participation, athletes show how much America appreciates the efforts and sacrifices of our military veterans. 2019 will be the 17th Face of America, having first run in 2000 as a cross-country ride with teams meeting in St. Louis. Funds provided through sponsorship, grants, and participant peer-to-peer fundraising will cover event costs, as well lodging, meals, and support for participating adaptive military veterans. Remaining funds following the ride’s conclusion will be applied to upcoming World T.E.A.M. events for adaptive athletes, such as our Adventure Team Challenge programs in Colorado and New York, our Coastal Team Challenge in New York, and our Face of America Liberty cycling challenge to West Point honoring adaptive military veterans.
Face of America begins with a festive dinner at our host Arlington hotel on Friday, May 3. The following morning, an anticipated 600 adaptive military veterans and able-bodied athletes will begin their journey through Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Throughout their ride, local citizens will offer encouragement and support. Along each route, there will be rest stops at local firehouses, schools and community centers. After spending Saturday evening in Frederick, participants will ride Sunday morning along picturesque country roads, through the historic Civil War battlefields and downtown Gettysburg. They will complete the Face of America mid-day with an inspiring arrival and luncheon in Gettysburg. Like all World T.E.A.M. events, the 2019 Face of America provides exceptional opportunities for adaptive and able-bodied persons seeking greater personal challenges and continued fellowship and support.

• World T.E.A.M. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that creates inspiring athletic programs for both adaptive and able-bodied participants.
