I'm exclusively committed to the bass and think and play like a bass player. I have a great ear and some formal training, to include basic jazz theory.
My philosophy of playing is simple: hold the bottom down, stay in the pocket, don't overplay, and stay tight with the drummer. Get fancy only when the moment is right.
My tastes are too diverse to be described by the choices allowed. I do like pop, including jazzy and progressive pop, from 70's and 80's all the way to today. I also like country, traditional and contemporary, mostly because the studio players on those records are awesome.
LA and Nashville studio bassists past and present: Lee Sklar, David Hungate, Joe Osborne, Nathan East, Michael Rhodes, Larry Paxton. Other bassists include Graham Maby with Joe Jackson and Paul S. Denman with Sadé.
