About

Braving The Current is an All-American Progressive Metal/Rock Band. They are homed in Allentown, Pennsylvania and Penn State University. The band formed many years go under the name, "The Current" but recently reformed to start a new beginning. The new name, "Braving The Current" captures their ability to attack life head on. They are limitless and know no bounds to their creative flow and style. ...They are taking the leap from High School cover band to a serious music group in order to share their love for mature, intellectual music with the world. Their sound would be described as dark but deep with heavy influences from British-Prog Group, Porcupine Tree, as well as American-Prog Group Dream Theater, American-Rock and Metal Group Incubus, and British-Rock Group, Pink Floyd. They are in the midst of writing their first Full-Length Concept Album entitled: Off To Space. The band is very excited to share their love for music with their fans.

Influences

Our influences are based on the sound that we are trying to create as a group. Bands that make up our foundation of lyrics and musicianship include Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Dream THeater, Incubus, and Muse.

Equipment List

Still building our equipment desires. Currently own Musicman, Fender, and Epiphone electric guitars. As well as Babicz and Taylor acoustic guitars. Pearl Export series double bass large set up but will be transferring to a Sonor SQ2 kit.
