ABOUT

I'm looking for drummers for a couple of different projects. Message me for more info. I would also like to find keys and horn players that like playing reggae music mixed with a little rock.

I primarily play lead guitar and sing. I am confident and proficient in playing reggae, funk, surf rock, most types of Latin music (cumbia, samba, bossa nova, salsa, reggaeton, etc.), punk rock, classic rock, country, folk, dance music/disco, heavy metal, hard rock, rap and hip hop, jam band stuff, jazz. I studied guitar with some of the best musicians in the Northwest and have been playing constantly for almost 20 years.

I usually write and play my own music, but am not opposed to playing covers for the right gig. I write a lot of music, spanning a wide variety of genres and I have never played with a single band that could keep up with me, in terms of creating new material, which is why I usually play in 3-5 projects at a time (I make time for every project, though, and am always the person most eagerly pushing things forward, in each of my groups).

Currently, I play in a Latin/pop fusion group with an awesome female vocalist, which is where I tend to use the nylon string guitar. This group is looking for a dedicated trumpet player, or at least a few rotating subs. Gigs 1-2x a month. The group is called Cilantro.

I play with a reggae/rock fusion group called Inherit Earth. We mix reggae and classic rock with a slight hint of punk and progressive rock. We do a lot of covers, but are working more originals into our set. This groups gigs on average of twice a week, often outside of Portland. I'm looking for a couple different instruments in this group, depending on who is the right fit.

I am also reforming a band I had here five years ago. It's a fusion of Latin/punk/prog rock, that I'm looking to make a little heavier and groovier, with the new stuff I've been writing. This group may or may not need a drummer, still piecing things together. The old bass player/backup singer is onboard and we've starting writing new material. We have an old album that we finished just before breaking up when I moved to California a few years ago, and I've since remastered it to the point that it will be releasable soon. We are also working on new material. This group could use hand percussion and horns. It is called Guitars As Guns.

Recently, I built a robot for a satirical EDM project. The robot is cool, the music is so-so (but that's the point). Looking to find a good gig for it, but the band is already pieced together.

I also produce music and produce the majority of the music I create, with my various projects. I have produced in Portland and Los Angeles, for other artists, as well.

I teach guitar lessons, also, and have taught in California, Oregon and Argentina. I am fluent in Spanish and can teach in either language.

I can send you examples of music I have written, played guitar on, and/or produced. Groups I have been a part of include Casual Indifference, The Self-Interest Collective, Grand Ole Punk, Jesus in the Closet, The Taliband, The Anchor Babies

EQUIPMENT

A Washburn electric with a good story behind it, an Ibanez nylon string acoustic/electric. Those are my live guitars. I play through a Roland Cube, which gets great tone and fills up every bar I've played in, despite its small size. Everywhere bigger than a bar is always able to mic it just fine.
