About
I'm looking for a fellow finger-stylist, or a seasoned rhythm guitarist - preferably acoustic. I need someone who can sit down and jump right into the fine points of songwriting. I have only been playing for a year, but I am proficient in Travis picking and alternate picking. It's sort of an obsession of mine. I play a lot of old-timey guitar and I want to work closely with someone who's looking for a grass-roots musical project to sink their teeth into.
Influences
Tommy Emmanuel and Doyle Dykes - In my opinion, those are the two biggest names in finger-style today. Smokin' Joe Robinson, too.
Let's see. Then there's the 'old-school': Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Django Reinhardt, Doc Watson, Blind Blake, Grandpa Jones - oh, who else, uh - Ramblin Jack Elliot, Woodie Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and of course Bob Dylan. Not so much as a guitarist but as a kick-ass songwriter.
I listen to a lot of indie groups, namely Trespassers William, which has had a huge influence on me. I've written a lot of songs with the same sad mood. If you're not familiar with them, go on YouTube and listen to "Different Stars".
Equipment List
Taylor Big Baby, Yamaha FS-720S, a cheapie Squire made by Fender acoustic which is great for writing songs. I also have some big stage equipment in storage and a DR-07 wireless digital recorder and the software to drop and chop audio files. I'm a pretty good producer, too, given my limited resources.
