ABOUT

"That [white-boy-drummer] got chicken grease in him!" bassist of the Emotions talking to the drummer, who had walked in on our private lesson, I'm still trying to determine if this is a compliment a few years later.

I always planned to tour in an adult contemporary pop or rock band- playing for singer songwriters or a rock group; that kind of thing. I played with Morgan Taylor Reid in both his early bands Southampton (got some local radio play) & BlueBox, an indie rock band called She Beards, an Indian-casino playing blues-act called Twice As Good for quite a few years; and some other fun stuff. I have recorded with a ska band and a couple singer-songwriters as well.

Influences

Drum-wise, I've been influenced by so many of the heavy hitters of today- Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Steve Smith, Steve Jordan. I love Todd Sucherman and Virgil Donati too. There are just too many great players to list them all.

EQUIPMENT

I rarely gig with the big kit, in fact I can count on one hand how many times I've been paid to play the whole thing. Anyway, I have a 7 piece Pearl Masterworks Artisan Series kit including kick, snare, & 5 toms, all Pearl hardware and kick pedals - double and single, all Zildjian Cymbals- ride, china, crashes and splashes. I play Pro-Mark drumsticks & Remo drum heads.

I also have a Roland TD-20 electronic drum set with a small wedge amplifier for practice.

I'm working on building a home-studio of sorts and plan to get microphones, stands, cables, and an A/I to record drums.
