I mostly play keyboard, write songs, and sing. I haven't played in a band since high school but I'd like to join or start a band to play original music. I record on my own but would like to start taking my music seriously enough to rock for real, preferably live. I have no real gig experience. You can hear better quality recordings here (http://www.long-form.com).

I have some formal musical training so I have some arranging and composition skills, but my performance skills are at about garage band level. My piano skills are sufficient for a rock band. I'll sing. I'll harmonize. I'll do whatever, but I want to make original music.

I want creative co-conspirators. I have a full time job but music is a major hobby that I wouldn't mind spending more and more time on. I'm up for serious creative enterprises. No straight-up cover bands.

(Whoa, I uploaded some songs and it sped them way up. I might leave them that way.. listen to that energy!)

Influences:

My ideal rock band would be a mix of, or at least independently capable of:

1) Effervescent, floor-stomping, good-times blues/rock a la Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc.

2) Riff-heavy badassery a la Led Zeppelin, Clutch, some White Stripes.

3) Operatic long-form, through-composed and musically sophisticated a la Queen, and maybe the Decemberists (see: The Tain)? More like Holst & Wagner...and Bach.

Equipment List:

I have:

* 88-key electric piano
* 5-piece drum set
* electric guitar
* acoustic guitar
* the cheapest possible bass guitar i could buy at guitar center
* cheap-ass roland micro cube amp
* a solaris condenser mic
* an audiobuddy preamp
* a celtic harp
* a moog etherwave theremin
* a violin
* some percussion odds & ends
* a decent computer & some music software
* a house (i.e., practice space)

Currently on the list of potential future purchases:

* better stage piano gear
* a real guitar amp
* a dynamic mic
* a mandolin
* an acoustic upright piano for home use

Notably lacking and unlikely to purchase anytime soon:

* better recording gear
* pa equipment
