Cheph (pronounced as chief) I was born in Phoenix, AZ. My parents were musician and they were involved in the music ministry in our church. So I grow up sing in the choir.
At the age of 13 my grandmother died on my mother side and I was inspired to writing poetry and songs. I was writing about 3 to 7 songs a week. I studied piano and later join the music magnet program were I learnt music theory, two other instruments (the violin and cello), dance, and voice in High School. I was also was greatly involved in the foreign language club which introduced me to different cultures, languages and traveling.

I graduated in 1990; by that time I have written nearly a hundred poetries & songs. In junior College during the early 90s I was studied classical piano and acappella jazz.

I had a limited studied of studio recording (due to cancellation) and was an assigned tutor for adult beginning piano and voice because of my understanding of music theory. During the tutoring session, students would ask me if I am able to help their church choir with harmony. Later I was known as the behind scene choir director till 2000. (This is where the name “Cheph = chief” was placed on me by a drummer after a rehearsal night. He did not use that name anymore but everyone else in the group did.)

I’ve helped several bilingual churches in parts of the valley to develop or fine tone their choirs; singing in spanish and in english for God in harmony. I was there for many to help them reach their dreams and goals.

AfterY2K, I return back to my songwriting. I decided that it is my turn to reach my dreams and goals in music. I returned to school and got my degree in Music & Cultural History in 2006. It was very hard trying to get a serious band together, so I began using studio software to creative my own sounds and rhythmic styles. I studied cultures because I love to learn about people from other parts of world. You will hear a lot of cultural influence in my music. I like to also mix sounds of the future with the sounds of the past, meaning that I will mixed electronica futurist sounds with ancient native tribal sounds together.
