I have been playing trumpet since I was 11 and played a few sit-ins while I still lived in Nashville. I now play guitar predominately. I just moved to Louisville and hope to get something together soon (if only for my sanity).

Influences:

Any bop jazz (especially Jazz Messenger records; I am a huge fan of Lee Morgan). Also early progressive jazz (Miles on Get Up With It, or Billy Cobham's Spectrum). Any Latin jazz or Latin folk is great. As for new music, I like good musicians making some slightly silly stuff (Devendra Banhart, Man Man, etc.).

I love blues, viz. Buddy Guy, but don't want to be a historian if you dig.

Good melodies, real pocket grooves.

Equipment List:

I play a custom Stratocaster through a Fender Roc Pro 1000. I use various pedals though I steer away from anything that sounds too much like post rock (mostly a boutique wah and vibe, with the occasional yet tasteful fuzz).

I also play a Mike Vax signature Yamaha Heavy Wall trumpet.

I have a PA that would suffice for practice settings. I also have a suitable practice space.
