Clay King was born in the D.C. capital where he received training from some of the top world-class jazz artists. He joined "The Belvederes" at age 13, an original old-school funk band with a full horn section. Since then, Clay has performed from D.C. down to the Carolinas in various funk, jazz, blues, motown, and carolina beach bands for the past 12 years. Some of Clays performance have included work with Percey Sledge live at the Alabama theater in S.C., Roy Roberts, Archie Bell, the Tams, Bill Pinkley, William Bell, the executives with Chairman of the Board, and jazz greats Denis Diblasio, Chris Vadala, Pepe Gonzalez, and Buck Hill. Clay has recorded with Carolina Beach legend Big John Thompson of the original Embers and Band of OZ. His bari sax can be heard on Carolina radio on "Heartache Tonight" He has also recorded and gained airplay with Danny Woods of Chairman of the Board and has spent studio time with the Catalinas horn section. Some of Clay's performance venues have included: -The Alabama Theater in South Carolina for the 2004 Beach Cammy Awards -The Baltimore Convention Center for the 1998 Maryland Allstate Jazz with Denis Diblasio -The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. -The old Club Phantasmagoria in M.D., JAXX in V.A., the Grogg and Tankard in NW, D.C., -The Raleigh, NC state fair and the Kernersville, NC fair with the Tams, the Ocean Drive club at Mrytle Beach, SC for the after-cammy award party with Band of OZ and the Coastline Band Clay plays tenor/alto/and bari sax, piano, acoustic guitar, flute, conga/Djembe drums, and vocals. Clay attended Sidwell Friends School in D.C. and Landon Music School in Bethesda MD Clay studied 2+ yrs of music performance/theory/history at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC Clay studied 3+ summers IAJE Jazz Consortium at Montgomery College in MD. Most recently, Clay came off the road from a seven month full-time regional/international tour with the Embers band out of Raleigh, NC
