ABOUT

I am a thoroughly experienced jazz, rock, and fusion drummer, a jazz and funk guitarist, and I can sing lead or harmony. I have been a drummer for 35 years, and serious guitarist for 6. I play solo jazz guitar for gigs these days.
I am sick and friggin tired of getting started only to stop. I want to play. Anything. There are hundreds of musicians on lots of sites, and I can't seem to find anyone with staying power, who wants to meet and play and put in the work. Everyone wants to email and talk, but when it comes to actually PLAYING, they vanish. It's stupid, and it sucks. I am not looking to tour, make a living, or live in a van down by the river, but I do want to play out. I hate the bar scene, and most of the cover bands suck. Period. I do NOT want to rehash a bunch of 80's covers. Anyone can do that. I love to do originals and obscure covers, I am open to others' compositions, and I can work with just about anything. I love to do jazz and funk instrumentals, oriented around creative improvisations. Good lord, I love that stuff.

I am married, have 3 kids, 2 jobs, and more work to do than I can list. I do not want to waste time. I just want to play. I can make time most evenings, but prefer weekend nights. Rehearsing 3 times a week is not going to happen. Shouldn't have to, really. Once a week with gusto is plenty to get a great set together. PLEASE DON'T WASTE MY TIME.
How come, under "Level of Commitment" I can't check "Sick of Screwing Around" for my choice? Come on, Bandmix. Get with the times...

Influences

Medeski Martin and Wood, Steely Dan, Bruce Cockburn, Paul Thorne, The New Mastersounds, Pat Matheny, Chick Corea, Charlie Parker, Milk Carton Kids, the list is much too long. I'm influenced by everyone who plays and loves nice groove. I can sing just about anything, drum just about anything, and as long as you don't want an Yngwee Malmsteen or Avenged Sevenfold style shred, I can cover a guitar slot pretty well. I love chords, and the more complicated the better.

Members Of Band

Right now it's just me. I play with an instrumental bunch of funk enthusiasts, but we're low on the food chain due to personal baggage. One of our guys is struggling with kid issues. Damned teenagers...
It's bass, drums, a couple horns, and keys. Love that sound!
If the drummer is around, I do guitar licks and lay chords on nice and thick.

EQUIPMENT

I have more crap than I care to list. I have 2 drum kits, enough cymbals to build my own Very Large Array (look it up), 5 guitars, 2 amps, pedals, mic's, cords, recording stuff, etc. Just ask my wife how much crap I have. She hates it.
I prefer to play here if I'm drumming. It's just to much stuff to haul around for rehearsal. If I'm guitaring, I'll go anyplace reasonable.
