Darker by Design is a Funeral Death Metal band hailing from San Antonio, TX. Established in late 2013, Darker by Design Infuses elements of classical music (cello and piano) along with a dark but groovy melodic death metal. Darker By Design centers itself around a more tasteful and poetic approach to traditional death metal, while still upholding the extreme intensities and aggression. With lyrical compositions inspired by a variety of vintage poetry, dark literature, superstitious rituals, and real life tragedy; Darker by Design would like to welcome listeners not only of metal music, but listeners who find some sort of pleasure in the more darker and beautiful side to reality as we know it.

On May 25, 2015, Darker by Design opened up to the local SA scene, performing a dual Ep release with local natives Of Ruins, where they released they're debut Ep entitled At Last.
