Multi-instrumentalist and keyboardist. Currently member and musical director of the Southern / Classic Rock band Earls of Kent. Also have my own side project - Kat n Keys Trio. Former member of R&B/Neo Soul band The Chocolate Factory and Classic Rock band Swiftkick to mention my most recent affiliations. I've been in many bands over the years too numerous to mention and have performed in countless gigs. I've been playing professionally since the age of 16 and am a very serious minded and dedicated musician looking to stay in the game and have fun as a part-time working musician but I am not dependent on music as a source of income or interested in playing full-time.

I enjoy playing all types of music regardless of genre and strive to play covers as authentically as possible including covering signature solo parts to the note using synth patches that I create myself that sound as close to the original recordings as possible. Yes, I spend hours customizing and editing patches when the factory defaults just don't cut it. All audio clips posted here are performed by me alone.

Unlike most keyboard players who will lock into a single patch or two all night (typically piano or organ), my live sound is typically massive and varied depending on what the tune calls for. I tend to play "big" meaning I typically have 2 keyboards stacked each with 2-3 splits/zones/layers. This allows me to sound as true to the original recording as possible. I cover horn lines, string parts, sax rides, guitar riffs, synth and electronic sounds and anything that is called for in order to capture the essence of the original recording. I have the technology that allows me to do this and I use it to the fullest extent possible.

I've also written instrumental music for Film/TV that can be heard on ReverbNation /davegaetani along with videos of me playing covers across multiple genres.

All tracks in the videos were performed and recorded by me using keyboards only.

Influences

I have been influenced by Piano players, Hammond Organists, and Synth players from many different genres, eras and musical styles. Not being a schooled musician, I grew up listening tirelessly to their records trying to emulate every little lick and nuance of their unique playing style. Its a long list but I must say I've taken a little something from each of them to create my own unique musical style.

Starting out in my very early years, my Hammond B-3 heroes were Jazz players such as Jimmy Smith, Joey DeFrancesco, Lonnie Smith, Billy Preston, and Richard Groove Holmes. Later, I began listening to the top Progressive Rock keyboardists of that time such as Keith Emerson (ELP), Tony Banks (Genesis), Rick Wakeman (Yes), and Rick Davies (Supertramp). I was also influenced by more main-stream rock organists such as Steve Winwood (Traffic), Rod Argent (Zoombies), Jon Lord (Deep Purple), and Felix Cavaliere (The Rascals).

My American Rock influences included Greg Allman (Allman Brothers), Steve Walsh (Kansas), Jonathan Cain (Journey), Greg Rollie (Santana), and Al Cooper (Blood Sweat and Tears).

Favorite piano players that helped shape my piano style of playing include Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Bruce Hornsby (Bruce Hornsby and the Range), Billy Powell (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Chuck Leavell (Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones) Elton John, and Billy Joel.
