About
A native of Boston, Dave Hertz began drumming in 1982 at the age of eleven. He moved to Tampa Bay in 1999 three years after earning his Bachelor's degree from a prestigious New England college.
He has been the pulse of various bands throughout the Boston and Tampa areas including There, Ground Zero, Continuum (Rush tribute band), Fall 2 Earth and The Jerry LaCoille Band. He has shared the stage with Milford Graves, Peter Golub and Allen Shawn, among other innovative composers and performers.
In December 1995 after performing in several of Milford Graves' jazz groups, the legendary musician stated that Dave Hertz "has been an inspiring contributor to this ensemble. His ability to tastefully improvise and construct various rhythm patterns has been good. He was very sensitive to the needs of [and] he provided the thrust to this ensemble. I am really impressed with his ability."
In addition to being a drummer/percussionist and backing vocalist, his vast musical resume includes studio and live recording/mixing/mastering experience and in 1993, he performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He has also played dozens of gigs at many of Tampa Bay's top venues including Limey's Pub and Kahuna's Bar & Grill both in St. Petersburg, JJ's Sports Lounge in Largo, TJ's Main Street in Dunedin and Quaker Steak & Lube in Clearwater.
He is currently available for gigs and can be reached at 727-366-7670.
