St. Petersburg, Florida's Fall On Purpose (featuring percussionist Dave Hertz) is an eclectic mix of Rock, Ska, Polka, R&B, Punk, Blues, Funk, Hip Hop and everything in between. Voted "Best of the Bay" and "Most Determined" several times by Creative Loafing and the Tampa Bay Times, every Fall On Purpose show is guaranteed to be a unique experience.
The multi-genre, multi-piece improvisational band is comprised of as many different ethnic backgrounds as there are members. The band admits that new fans act like deer in headlights at the start of their live shows but come underneath their spell by the end. In a May 2005 article by Matt Nelson which appeared in the St. Petersburg Times, the band was described as "a combination of The Beatles and Wu-Tang [Clan] meets Miles Davis."
The band released their first CD "Welcome to Deerland" in April 2005 and they recorded their follow-up album "FOPadelic" in April 2006 after opening a sold-out show for George Clinton at Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg.
The band is currently seeking a record label for nationwide distribution of their first double CD which has been available at CDBaby and Apple iTunes since October 2008. "FOPadelic Deerland" is a selection of songs from the band's first two CDs which have been combined into one cohesive album.
