Now Seeking

Trombone, Piano, Trumpet, Other Percussion, Drums, Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar.

About

I've been in a bunch of bands but moved from Girdwood, Alaska back to Illinois to earn my Master's (M.M.) in jazz arranging at Northern Illinois University. Now I do my own studio work, but I want to get in a band again. Check out my sales page for the CDs "Prospect St." and "The Promise" on CDBaby.com to hear the first bit of each song. I play saxophones (alto and tenor) and guitar. I am looking for a solid drummer, a good bass player (upright bass if possible), a trained keyboard player (who can read charts), and a guitar player to play original music (mine or anyone else's!). Contact me at dmmccray@ or call (224) 238-3323

Influences

I'm mainly a sax player at heart, so people like Maceo Parker, John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Vido Musso. But everything from the Dead and Dylan to the Meters, the Descendents, Yes, ELP, Stan Kenton, Debussy, everything Miles Davis did before the mid-seventies, Jelly Roll Morton, Honeyboy Edwards, this could go on and on....You get the idea - jazz, blues, R & B, etc. Improvisation!

Equipment List

Selmer Super-Action 80 Alto Sax (1993), Stein Baby Grand, Korg Triton Extreme Keyboard, Alvarez Acoustic Guitar, Ibanez Electric Guitar (Boss pedals), Olds Trumpet, Armstrong Flute, Ambassador Trombone, Yamaha 5 Piece Drumset with Zildjian cymbals, Short-necked Squire Musicmaster Bass, and assorted latin percussion toys like LP bongos, congas, shaker, guiro, cabasa, tambourine, claves, etc.
