Started drumming at around 10. Starting at 13, took professional lessons for about 4 years where I learned fundamentals then a lot of jazz, latin, and New Orleans style music, though my main playing style I'd say is funky/jazzy and some high energy.
I used to practice an hour or two a day until recently I started living as a student at Loyola and couldn't bring my drums, but I'm looking to start lessons here soon and my house with my drums is only across the river so I go back and play a couple times a week.
I'm looking to gig alot and (although I'm not opposed to covers at all) hopefully be involved in a lot of original music.
I'd be happy playing anything really as long as I'm in an active band.
Drummers: Tony Royster Jr., Thomas Pridgen, Jojo Mayer, to name my favs.
Bands: Buckethead, Phish, The Mars Volta, Jimi Hendrix, Tool, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, etc. not to make a big list, and all the local funk and groove.
My main kit is a Gretsch Renown 6 piece with a Pearl floor tom tacked on the end to make it a 7 piece, with 3 crashes, 2 splashes, ride, and china, all Zildjian A custom or A series. It's fun in the room but I rarely bring it all for gigs.
