Diem was started by former Arista Records Recording Artist Joe Pettinato, guitarist and founding member of Chicago's FROM ZERO. The band has recently recrutided ex-FROM ZERO guitarist Pete Capizzi as Diem's new drummer. The bass spot is filled by former Brainchiggers guitarist Keith Daily. Former FROM ZERO frontman, Jett was assigned the singer position, but had to leave the band for personal reasons.
