Don has played professionally since he was 17 gigging in Albuquerque, New Mexico bars with bands such as On the Rox, Heartbreak, D'Mere, and James Blond. He studied classical guitar at the University of New Mexico under Federico Jimenez concurrently and was discovered by Epic artist, Jak, while lead guitarist for James Blond. Don left UNM and spent one year with Jak before enrolling at M.I.T. in Los Angeles where he studied with Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson, Paul Gilbert, Don Mock, and Jeff Berlin. Don taught at Azusa Pacific University while fronting band, The Relatives, and was approached to open tour for David Lee Roth with the single caveat to put the guitar down and front the band as a singer/frontman. The 21 year-old, Don, refused to put the guitar down. oops. The Relatives broke up. Don recorded his first EP to generous reviews in Northern California as 'brilliant' and formed 3-piece melodic metal band, Black Tide, which he fronted as lead singer and guitarist. Black Tide received critical acclaim in BAM, McFaze, KRQR, and opened for national acts at the Stone, the Omni, and headlined the Summer of Love 25th Anniversary concert in Golden Gate Park. Don's solo career has included gigs with Hot Tuna and he released his first CD, "Blessed Naive", which includes the song 'Blueberry Beer'. In Northern California, Don has worked with the bands Perilous Partners featuring Lorena Peril, Mad Marian, Skynyn Lynyrd, and duo, Dark Blue with Greg Allman sax-man, Mark Showalter. Dark Blue has been featured performers at Domaine Chandon Winery, Pyramid Brewery, and the Solano, Yolo, San Joaquin County Fairs. He is the lead guitarist for Southern New Jersey band, Diana B and the Heat (dianabandtheheat.com). He currently teaches privately and is available in the Delaware Valley for live and studio work. Don works and lives in both Northern California and southern New Jersey with his wife/partner, Lucinda (a world-class oboist) and their five shared children. He launched website earBuzz.com in 1999. Don has been fortunate to work with kind and generous artists and musicians from around the world.
