I'm Rono and was the lead screamer of Disappointed Parents in the 80's New Orleans hardcore scene. We recorded and released 8 songs on a 7"EP - "Am I Getting Through?" in 1983. The guitarist of that band was EJ Phillips of "EJ Phillips and the Electric Blues Band" (NOLA). The bassist was Otto, and the drummer was Tony, Of course, the lineup had also included different individuals @ times: Dan Zimmer (original guitarist of the band), Tommy Ginther (drums - he later played in Severed Mass and is currently with Hard Drive), Ken (bass), Johnny (rythym guitarist), Ernie (bass), Guy Humble (drums), and 1 or 2 others.

DP toured throughout the Southeastern USA, including Houston, Austin, Atlanta, and weekly played @ "The Industry" in Baton Rouge & @ "Tupelo's Tavern" in NOLA. And, we regularly played @ "The Rose Tattoo" (see picture). We played shows with The Circle Jerks, Black Flag, The Dicks, DRI, MDC, Negative Approach, Toxin III, DDT, The Red Rockers, Teenage Waste, The Goners, Shell Shock, The Sluts, The Offenders, Butthole Surfers, Youth Brigade, Marching Plague, Die Kreuzen, the Necros, Graveyard Rodeo, No More Fun (original band of Jon Sanchez, who is now of the Summer Wardrobe in Austin, Tx.), the list goes on. We played at NOLA's Tupelos's, the Rose tattoo,St. Mark's Community Center, etc. The Island in Houston, Tx., the Metro in Atlanta, Ga., The Ritz in Austin, Tx., the Bayou in Baton Rouge, La., etc.

This project "DPBG1023" takes up where that one left off, only all these years later.

DPBG1023 is a project that I've been working on, starting in India, where it began with the name "Jiva Convention", which involved a few others. Now the situation is that the work in progress as it had begun here has changed. Basically, I'd still like to find others interested to work on it with me. Kai was helping with it and now is taking care of herself as needed and I'm still with the desire and hope to do this project, which blends many styles of music with spiritually based lyrics. The creating of songs lyrically and bass patterns and structuer has been ongoing. We are moving forward. Looking to find someone who would want to work on this with me. So far there's a longtime friend for the drums willing to commit to it and I'm on the bass to the extent to suffice. Will do management, and promotion also since I have the experience and contacts here and abroad.
