Barry Lewis, aka "Dr. Keys" is a multiple keyboardist, well equipped, and can travel and perform full time. Looking for working full time R&B, Funk, Smooth Jazz, show band. Only professionals reply. Forty years plus experience with travel and lounge work. Great studio chops. Background vocals if needed. Barry practices in his home studio daily.
Barry grew up in Newark, NJ which was a major live entertainment city in the 1960s. When he was 12 years old, his mother took him to see the Motown revue with Little Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Mary Wells, The Miracles, and, Marvin Gaye. It was then that Barry knew he wanted to be a professional musician.
As a teenager, Barry performed behind many local popular entertainers and recording stars that performed in the many nightclubs and lounges in Newark, NJ and New York City. He performed as a side man for The Escorts, The Coasters, and many other major recording artists that came to perform in the New York metropolitan area.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Barry was on the road touring the US, Canada, Mexico, and, Europe. In the mid-1980s, Barry came off the road to help raise his children who are now successful adults. While off the road he received his degree in Business Administration and Computer Science.
Barry continued performing in hotels, casinos, five star restaurants, and, nightclubs. In the late 1990s he used his knowledge in digital technology available on his keyboard workstations to develop a full band sound with digital sequencing and the vocal collaborations of his best friends Leslie Swanigan and Nova Peele. Barry is available for any type of occasion and will tailor make a musical program for any affair. Barry is currently looking to work with a full time ā70sā to present R&B, Funk, and Smooth Jazz band for himself and / or his vocalists.
