Rick Boucher / Tampa, Florida USA
Rick Boucher is originally from Detroit, Michigan. Rick started his formal training at the age of 7 and performed his first professional gig in the 4th grade. Rick began his drumming career playing basement parties while still in grade school.
Upon relocating to Tampa, Florida in 1981, Rick soon became a member of a few prominent bay area bands and started playing club gigs while still in high school. Developing his vocal ability along with honing his drumming chops, Rick has opened many doors for himself by being a singing drummer.
Throughout Rick’s musical journey he has played just about every genre of music in varying musical situations. Along with having played thousands of gigs in central Florida and the southeast, Rick has also worked with many artists as a free-lance studio drummer. Rick has recorded with producers Tom Morris ( 7 Mary 3 / Dixie Dregs / Saigon Kick ) of Morrisound Studios, Steve Connelly ( Willie Nelson / Roger McGuinn ) of Zen Recording as well as George Harris ( Cheap Trick / Smashmouth ) of Panda Productions. Rick has also established himself as a first call sub for any and all live situations and has shared the stage with national acts Blue Oyster Cult, Rick Derringer, Dave Mason, Joan Jett and Bad Company.
In 2004, Rick recorded the debut CD for bay area power pop band The Edisons. This 13 track CD has won rave reviews worldwide from the power pop community and is a great example of Rick’s drumming and singing abilities. His philosophy of playing for the song and not over playing has made him a studio regular for many artists looking for a player of taste and finesse.
For the last 2 and a half years Rick has performed with bay area based band Betty's Not A Vitamin. BNAV averaged 120 dates a year and has performed as a pre-game concert act at Raymond James Stadium for the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as being pre-game entertainment for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Storm. Rick is currently at liberty to accept full-time gigs and professional working situations.
Rick is a dedicated professional who prides himself in being punctual and responsible while working. Rick also uses professional equipment and has the means of transportation to get himself and required gear to each venue.
As far as influences go, Rick has drawn inspiration from Joey Kramer ( Aerosmith ) / Kenny Aronoff ( John Mellencamp ) / Anton Fig ( Late Show with David Letterman ) and countless others.
Embracing the motto “ Less is more “, Rick‘s goal is always striving to get the most out of the least, as well as serving the song and playing what is called for, forgoing an opportunity to show off his arsenal of chops.
