David Wolfgang (DW) Savage: A rare native of San Diego California who at an early age realized his first passion and priority was in performing MUSIC not surfing! DW had the good fortune to study drums and percussion with one of America’s best – “The Tonight Shows” own drummer Ed Shaughnessy who has unfortunately recently passed away. Weaned on Motown, R&B and “The British Invasion”, DW’s musical career evolved quickly…. It’s no wonder DW soon became sought after on the local scene as one of San Diego’s best-respected musician. Not only is DW a well versed drummer in virtually all styles of music, he is also a multitalented Keyboard and Bass Player….oh yea, did I mention DW has been graced with possessing a wide vocal range too! Among his early credits, DW had the great opportunity at the tender age of 15, (during summer break) to tour with “The Intruders” whose big hit (Cowboys to Girls) topped the charts. DW has also appeared with a multitude of top recording artists including opening for Led Zeppelin & Jethro Tull at age 16; Kenny Rogers & the 1st Edition, Tommy James & the Shondells and was a regular on Paul Revere & the Raiders’ “The Happening Show” in Hollywood. More recently, as drummer for San Diego’s popular group…”The Roosters”, DW opened for Dobie Grey, Stephen Stills, Gary Puckett and most notably, “Elvin Bishop” who DW met while touring with his own group “Something Special”. DW’s true gratification comes mostly from writing and recording original material. Incidentally DW wrote on the piano, the song “Spend Your Life” which was local hit reaching # 9 on the charts. A drummer with animated charismatic charm and highly enthusiastic energy, DW’s stage presence is readily apparent.

Spend Your Life (with me) Track number: 4 Year: 1983 Album: The Roosters Genre: Pop

Angel Eyes

Another one of my original Pop songs with a ska/reggae/calypso feel….played drums and sang lead on.

Diamonds
Diamonds Track number: 6 Year: 1979 Album: Diamonds Genre: Pop
“Diamonds” was actually only the second song I ever wrote. It was written during a period when I was grieving over my wife leaving me. Looking back, her leaving actually paved the way as to my inspiration for writing songs. Of course, there were many tears shed during those first few songs…heartbreakers I guess. Produced and published in Hollywood by 20th Century Fox Records.
