Recently moved to SLC from Washington, DC. Was a founding member of Heather's Headache (alternative rock - see iTunes, YouTube, MySpace), which produced two CDs and toured the DC region. Gigs included playing for Mitt Romney's campaign, professional baseball teams, congressional and other fund raisers. Heather's Headache filmed a professional music video which can be found on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdkRuWlzD5Q).
Previous bands include Wooden Nickels (alt country/rock), Sonic Soul (southern & classic rock), and Pieces of Eight (similar to stuff like Toad the Wet Sprocket).
I'm looking for an opportunity to play with talented and dedicated musicians, and am willing to tour for one to two weeks per year in addition to more routine local gigs. I prefer alternative music, and would expect to produce one original album every two years.
My brother currently works for the premier SLC concert promotion firm, which may open doors to playing with other local bands or to perform as the opening act for national tours in venues such as The Depot and the USANA Ampitheatre.
I have a DW drumset (6 piece), nine high end mics for recording/mic'ing the set, and a significant amount of lighting equipment (including a truss system, two moving intelligent heads @ $2k each, a controller, and strobe panels) which significantly improve the energy of a live show.
Most common feedback from previous bands is my level of dynamics - playing with a range of very soft to heavy, all within the same song (think of U2's "With or Without You"). I'm generally not interested in Heavy Metal or other genres that are only at one ultra-high intensity, but rather I really enjoy music styles where the energy of the music moves in waves.
Drummer influences: Rush (what drummer isn't influenced by Rush?), Steve Smith (Vital Information), Carter Beauford (Dave Matthew's Band).
Other bands I enjoy listening to, playing along with: Collective Soul, Live, Matchbox 20, U2, Augustana.
DW Drums, Audio-Technica mics, American DJ intelligent moving heads, DMX lighting controller, LED panel strobes, 16-channel snake (100'), Shure in-ear monitor system, Ultimate Ears 700 series custom IEMs.
