ABOUT

I'd like to meet Carola - Musician in Kirkland, WA ID#: 216372
Her music and voice are haunting, densely intricate multidimensional compositions, several styles in the same song, from Northern European Folk to sprinkles of Spanish Phrygian Mode, and rock fuzz lead guitar - yet comfortably flowing, and masterfully mixed in the stereo spectrum. Her voice and some of her pronunciations remind me of Basia on "New Day for You". Carola, I admire your music, singing, playing, and recordings. Getting in contact with other musicians on Bandmix can be a game of 'tag', I hope to make contact with you someday soon. I work at PCC Kirkland.

Regarding me:
Most of the videos I've posted on this web site are just short proofs that I can play those instruments (though there are complete songs in the videos which I play all those instruments there are also more in the audio only tracks). To get a better idea of the many genre and styles that I play, watch the videos I've posted AND listen to the audio tracks too.

All the songs that I have posted on Bandmix are property registered with the U.S. Copyright Office and I reserve all copyrights. You may download the ones I have enabled for the purposes of your own listening enjoyment .

I play : Guitars, Drums, Percussion, Flute, Tables, some keyboards, some harmonica, some Bass, and sing. I can play by ear; improvise; and write arrangements as melody and alpha-numeric chord charts, or as complete note for note sheet music (however, my note-for-note sight reading is very slow).

Listen to my original music (for best playback results, use a good pair of headphones) - I played every instrument on every song, with the only exception being "Smooth Jazzy Jam" in which a friend played keyboards.

Influences

I have had very many musical influences, in many styles of most Genres. Overall my music is not as complicated as many of the musical artists that have influenced me; however in my music you will find their level of composition and playing in some introductions, bridges, and interludes, with a subtle sophistication found in the fusion of those musical styles and genres that most musical artists do not achieve. Some of my musical influences are presented here: CLASSIC ROCK: e.g. Allman Brothers; Santana; Chicago Transit Authority; Jimi Hendrix; Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young; Iron Butterfly; The Beatles. CLASSICAL PROGRESSIVE ROCK: e.g. Moody Blues, Yes, ELP, Camel, PFM, Caravan, Uriah Heep, Gentle Giant, Gryphon, Jethro Tull, Wishbone Ash, King Crimson, Strawbs, UK, Brand X, Gong,…many others. JAZZ-ROCK-FUSION: e.g. Larry Coryell, Return to Forever, Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, Nova, Bill Bruford, Alan Holdsworth,…many others. OTHER1970’s: Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti, Oregon, Ancient Future. Jazz: e.g. Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joe Pass, Don Mock, Wes Montgomery, Weather Report, Gary Peacock, early to mid George Benson, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Fattburger, The Rippingtons,..many more.

Some other influences: PCC, Tai Chi, King County Public Library System, Netflix content (especially: documentaries, music concerts, musical instruction, and band retrospectives), Ted Talks, videos, local live music, sustainable local economies, local farmers' markets, Permaculture, and many more…

Some favorite books: "The Power of Limits: Proportional Harmonies in Nature, Art, and Architecture" by Gyorgy Doczi; Baron's "The New Food Lover's Companion"; "Edible Forest Gardens" by Dave Jacke; Benet's "Readers' Encyclopedia"; note-for-note music transcription books; and many more...

I had to sell almost all of my equipment to move from Coral Gables, FL to Woodinville-Duvall, WA area; I now live in Kirkland, WA. I now have a Nylon String Acoustic Guitar, a Yamaha Alto Flute, a 'Cajon' that sounds like bongos, and a couple of Harmonicas.
