Influences

I tend to play a bit of everything. I grew up in a very bluegrass rich environment, but gravitated towards jazz and blues as I got older. Contemporary Christian music has had a significant influence on me as well. If I had to pick some names to associate my sound with I would have to say, Carl Perkins and John Hammond, for starters. But, I like to think of my sound as being my own. I use a lot of open chord structures when I play that allow me to get some unusual harmonic chord sounds. My sound pallet includes the use of rhythmic finger picking, muted strums, body slaps, open strums, ringing chords and an addiction to 7th, 9th, and added 2nd chord structures that treatment has failed to overcome. lol. It has been said of me that I "think so far outside of the box, he can't even see the box from where he is." I prefer to consider that a compliment.

EQUIPMENT

Gold Tone "Paul E. Beard" Resonator. Takamine 12 String. Stromberg Hollow-body Electric. (I prefer the Resonator over all the rest) I also own a full size upright bass... Just in case I actually meet some one who can play the thing. (I am learning.. but... well.. lets just say I have a long way to go.)
