ABOUT

Established in November of 2006, at a party in an apartment in Toledo one night, Man Down formed from 3 best friends (Nick, Brian and Matt originally) who all had a love for music, just happened to be equally talented individually and agreed that they wanted to start a band, start writing music of their own and get out and get it heard by as many people as possible. Either that same night or a few nights later, we came up with the name "Man Down", not really any thought or special significance behind it, it just came out and we agreed to go with it. Next we started looking for the rest of the lineup to complete the band. Brian brought in Mark one day and we just kinda started getting together to jam weekly. After searching for awhile and trying out some possible prospects as far as singers, we met Dustin, invited him over to jam one night and ended up writing "Break Down" that night, our first time jamming together. We definitely had a good feeling about it after he left, so we called him back and jammed with him a few more times, decided that he fit our style really well and instantly added him to the lineup. We then decided to add Mark officially as the other guitar player to complete it. We just released our full length debut album "Live and Let Love [Destroy] You" on Saturday May 17th 2008 at Club Bijou in Toledo, which we released independently and recorded ourselves in our house, the "Man Down Headquarters" if you will. "The concept of the album basically can be seen as the timeline of a person's life or of a person's relationship. The album begins with an eerie scene of an officer down, and it is unclear whether this man will live or die. The man slips out of consciousness and has flashbacks of the past, "rewinding" through his life. As the situation takes a turn for the worst, we rewind all the way back to the beginning, and the story takes place from start to finish through the rest of the album. The first canto of the album deals with happy feelings: childhood, dating, relationships, and fun times in general. "The Downfall" transitions into the second canto, where there is a change of heart. The songs in this section are more of disdain, sadness, anger, and finally fear. The third canto is a new awakening, and the songs are all a form of moving on. The album ends with a bonus acoustic track, because "Love" conquers all things." We're currently looking for and booking shows as well as writing new songs for our second album and starting the whole process over again. And of course partying like Rockstars every chance we get. We're done just getting started, in the last year we've gained alot, learned alot and we're getting ready to make a huge move forward. The campaign is established, "Man Up For Man Down", join the cause and help us get out there. Tell all your friends about us, come to shows, bring your friends to shows, help us promote and sell tickets, posterize us up around your area, and buy our cd. Anything and everything is greatly appreciated. You guys Rock and we can't do this alone. So make your presence known and show your support for Man Down as obnoxiously and loud as you can, just like we like it. This is Man Down, strap in and enjoy the ride.
