I'm a 22 year-old singer in Portland, Oregon. In May of '09 I'll graduate from Lewis & Clark with a degree in Spanish, but my true passion has always been music. When people ask how long I've been singing, I usually tell them I think that singing was probably how I learned to speak. Music has always been the easiest way for me to communicate with people, express myself, and have fun.

Influences:

I think I find a new influence every day. I haven't found a genre or style to call "home" just yet, so my music taste includes rock, folk, folk rock, blues, jazz standards, americana, country, alternative country, bluegrass, rockabilly, pop, rock-pop, salsa, Latin pop, r&b, and more. This January I started singing flamenco.

The people who have influenced my voice are Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Silvio Rodriguez, my mother, Etta James, Iris Dement, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Bob Dylan, Dar Williams, Celia Cruz, Alison Krauss, Ella Fitzgerald, Lauryn Hill, Norah Jones, and a bunch of others who I either can't remember or haven't yet recognized as influential.
