Although I play several instruments, I'm primarily a melodic bass player who enjoys odd time signatures and rhythmic patterns. I have more than 10 years of playing experience and I was the original bassist for Enemy of Mind (an original metal band from Scottsburg, which is now going by the name Amalgamate), and I was with them for 4 years, until I left the band last year due to creative differences and what I felt was a lack of motivation/commitment from the other band members. So that leaves me here, looking for like-minded artists that will help me defy musical convention.

Basically, the musicians that I'm looking for will, first of all, have talent. Now, I'm not expecting John Petrucci's level of playing, =) but I don't wanna play sh*t "metal" 3 minute songs that are nothing but power chords (like so much of the garbage that actually gets played on the radio, ie: Godsmack and basically anything you see on MTV). Second, I want musicians who are COMMITTED. That means allotting time to practice regularly (I would like to practice as a group at least once a week, but you should make time to practice on your own as well). I understand what it's like to be busy and how difficult it can be to make time to do things, but my experience with it is that, people WILL make time for the things that are important/ a priority to them, regardless of how busy they happen to be. Third: if you have a drug or alcohol problem, don't bother contacting me. If you like to have a good time and cut loose every now, that's one thing- and I'm entirely cool with that. But if you're going to blow off gigs and practice so you can get wasted, then like I said- don't waste my time. I'm here to make music, damn GOOD music that transcends the corporately peddled crap that is currently the artistic norm--not to party. And fourth, music must be as important to you (if not more so) than the air that you breathe.

My vision is this: to create dark, epic, progressive metal that is hauntingly melodic, yet intense, and with substance (I think I would prefer to try doing concept albums as opposed to standalone songs). It would definitely be more of a challenge. ;) Possibly mixing some classical elements into the music also might kick.
If you think you share this vision and you are truly a dedicated musician, then I gladly welcome you to transcend the bounds of modern metal with me. Peace.
