I play guitar.
I just want to play.
I'm not a kid, I'm 56 if that's a factor to you.
Up until about a year ago I was playing with a band of friends on Fridays in Westchester.
We would play out a few times a year at our own parties and clam bakes or an occasional Birthday.
I have pretty diverse taste in music but my playing has mostly in the Blues\Rock genre, I tend to like a little drive and kick but I wouldn't describe myself as a Metal head or Shredder.
Lately I've been working on my finger style and acoustic skills but classic rock is where most of my experience is.
I have no problem trying original material either.
I'm familiar with and enjoy the music from most of the classic rock bands and several of the more recent groups as well.
Not much into the poppy stuff, but have had fun spicing up one here and there.
I've played both rhythm and lead sharing the chores with other guitarist.
I can't site read music. But I know the basics of reading and tab and have a pretty fair grasp of theory so it hasn't been a problem.
Practicing lead work at home I tend to favor Santanna, Gilmour, Clapton, Knophler type stuff but generally I take a "Whatever it takes approach" to learning songs.
I have a day job and a family.
I practice every night and have no problem with playing out, but wouldn't leave my wife and kids over it.
