Evil Means was co-founded by John Trice(Vocals/Guitar) and Keith Kenner(Drums'03-'06) back in late February of 2003. John had some song ideas for guitar that bands he played bass in ignored and wanted to create something with them. He met with high school and longtime friend Harry Shaffer(EM Bassist'03,'05-present) who introduced John to Keith. They jammed a couple of times and felt they were on to something with the song ideas John presented. Soon Donn Curtis(Vocals '03) became part of the equation.Four months after Evil Means was formed, Harry left and the band welcomed Mikel Vogt(bass '03-'05) into the project. Not too long after Mike joined, Donn stepped down as vocalist and Keith brought in T.J. Rilling(Vocals'03-'04) to fill the vocal void. Progress was starting to be made with the music that Evil Means had been working on and the foursome decided to record a demo CD. In early winter of 2004, Evil Means went into Hanging Alien Studios and started recording. During the recording process,Mikel introduced Rob Stallings(Guitar'04-'05) to EM. Rob learned the songs as they were being recorded and releived John of recording two seperate guitar tracks for the demo. While EM was still recording, T.J. stepped down as vocalist of the band. Once again, Evil Means was faced with a vocalless situation. Instead of looking for another singer,John decided to step up to the mic and take on a dual role of Vocals and Guitar. The band liked how John's vocals fit the music and finished the demo. In September of 2004 Evil Means made their debut @ a club called MichaelBob's with Insulin(a band John was playing bass in at the time),and Drenched. The show opened Pandora's box and Evil Means went full-throttle into playing other venues with bands such as Construkt,Four to Nothing, Los Muertos, and Choke Chain. In March of 2005, EM went to THE SHED STUDIO and started recording EM's first LP, Evil Means. EM's DEEP IN THE DARKNESS demo was being distributed at shows. People were listening and liking what they were hearing. Then in November of '05, due to professional differences, Mikel and Rob left Evil Means. Before their departure, John and Keith had been writing songs with Harry Shaffer and Michelle Abrames in a project called UNFIT. After Vogt and Stallings' parting, UNFIT became the new and current lineup of Evil Means. All of UNFIT's songs became songs of EM. Harry and Michelle have learned all the EM songs and are making great progress with new song that no one has heard yet. Unfortunately,in March of '06,Keith left Evil Means to focus on playing drums for Mut. In May,Evil Means welcomed Kevin Gilkes('06-'08) as the new drummer. Sadly, due to work, Kevin had to step down as the percussionist of E M. If anyone is interested, the position of drummer is open for the taking.
